Comments:
[Liner from front insert] - "On September 10, 1997, Rich Mullins sat down in an old, abandoned church and played nine songs that were to be part of a record he had affectionately termed "Ten Songs About Jesus." This was a new project Rich was just starting called The Jesus Record, a project Rich said was "needed" - for himself and his friends. Just nine short days later, Rich left this world and went to meet Jesus, his Saviour and Lord.  Recorded only on a cassette with a cheap, battery-operated recorder, the nine songs were, to say the least, rough.  But the cassette was salvaged and cleaned up so that these nine demos could be put onto a CD.

In late November, The Ragamuffins went into the studio to begin work on The Jesus Record - the ten songs Rich had wanted to sing about Jesus.  To help them out, The Ragamuffins invited some old friends to sing and play on the record, including Ashley Cleveland, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Phil Keaggy, and Tom Howard.  Included on this second disc are the nine songs Rich had demo'd as well as one more song "Man Of No Reputation" - a song Rich could not hear without being moved, and didn't believe he could ever sing all the way through.

We hope that as you listen to these two discs, you will be inspired by the words and music of Rich Mullins and The Ragamuffins, and drawn closer to the subject of these songs: Jesus."
