Shipping Charges

I am a stickler for only paying actual shipping charges for everything I buy and not paying any premium (i.e. extra seller profit) for a bloated shipping and/or handling charge.  I like things simple and direct - pay only actual (advertised) cost for the CD and only actual shipping charges so there's no surprises at the end of the checkout process.  So obviously I could not be content offering any less for my customers.  So here's how I plan on doing things so that customers are not overcharged for shipping.  I never have and probably never will ask anything for "handling".

Sale Items
Discogs.com does have a system of assigning shipping charges so that payment for an order can be made through Paypal at the time that the items are ordered, and it does appear to be fairly sophisticated enough where I will be able to set up actual shipping charges for different postal services based on package weight.  However, at this time I have not yet had a chance to set this part of my seller account settings up, and it will probably be a time consuming process to do so.  I hope to have this done within the next month or two.  I may end up having a maximum shipping charge for large volume orders so that buyers can save more on those if that can be easily set up in the shipping policy.  But at the present time, I am focused primarily on getting my initial batch of rare CDs posted in the Discogs marketplace and then establishing some regularity of listing new items so that I have an idea how long it will take to do each day.  So until such time that I have a chance to set my shipping policy up, I will need to receive your order first and then send an invoice with actual shipping costs based on your selected mailing rate that you may pay with any of the accepted payment methods.  Paypal is the easiest and will receive next mailing day shipping.  I will determine actual shipping charges through usps.com by packaging everything up and then weighing the final package on my postal scale bought off of Amazon.   If you are not sure which service rate you would like and want to compare rates, then here are some weight estimates that can be used if you would like to run your own shipping calculations on usps.com before telling me which service rate you would like.

Average weight of a single CD with jewel case* -- 3.7 oz.
Small sized bubble envelope (1 or 2 items) -- 0.5 oz.
Medium sized bubble envelope (3 or 4 items) -- 0.8 oz.
Large bubble envelope (5 or 6 items) -- 1.4 oz.
Box (over 6 items) -- 7 oz.
(*Note - Multi-disc packages will obviously weigh more than a single disc, so multipy number of discs by 3.7 oz to get a safe estimate for multi-disc packages unless noted otherwise in the item description)

If you would like to use UPS or FedEx, I will be happy to oblige, however, since there are fewer office/store locations for UPS and FedEx than there are for the US Post Office, I'll be offering fewer mailing days for those services.

Trade Items
Shipping charges for trades will be handled by each respective party unless arranged otherwise.  Since it will be the trader's responsibility to get their items to me first, I will not be paying for initial shipping on the trader's end unless it has been arranged as a condition of the trade, and then only in the form of a refund after the trade items have been confirmed by me and I then send out my items with the refund.  In a successful trade, all of my trade items will be sent with insurance, and the trader is encouraged to do the same to ensure their items do arrive to me.

Mailing Days
I currently do not work very close to the nearest post office from my employer.  I used to be a 5 minute walk away, but it is now a 5 to 7 minute drive to the post office, and longer to the nearest UPS or FedEx.  So my official mailing days for post office items will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and I will ship any UPS or FedEx items on Tuesday and Friday, assuming tolerable weather conditions.  If weather conditions are particularly bad to the point where I do not want to venture out during the lunch hour, I reserve the right to delay my shipment to the next day (Mon-Sat) should I be unable to get permission from my employer to run a special errand after lunch if the weather has settled down by then.  I would offer Saturday also, but unfortunately the post office nearest to my house is not open on Saturdays.   Also, as I do not want to advertise on my website whenever I am out-of-town on vacation or whatnot, I do reserve the right to delay shipment until I return without announcing it if payment was made at the time of order through Paypal - (not applicable until I get the shipping policy set up in Discogs).

Rush Shipments
If the fastest possible shipment is essential to your decision to buy CDs from me, then please email me before placing the order, and ask if I'm available for next day or next mailing day shipping.  If I am not, I will simply say so, and that will be that.  If I am available and you need me to ship on a non-mailing day or to travel to a post office, UPS or FedEx on Saturday, then I am willing to do that for an extra $2 on weekdays, or an extra $5 on Saturday.  But please confirm first through email (below) that I am available.  I will have an alarm in my smart phone to check my email on or around noon each day and 9:00 PM to check for any orders that day that need to be packaged and weighed.  My ability to reply to an email during lunch hour each day will be completely dependent on the events of the day at work and also on whether I have any orders that need to be mailed out that day.  If you send an email before noon and don't hear back from me 1:30, then check back in the late evening after 9:00 and you should hear from me eventually if I do not have a situation where my internet connection is down or I am otherwise occupied and unable to do my normal late evening routine.

Any further questions? - If so, please email me.
